Polly's Flowers ("we", "us") is a florist based at 9 Cotterills Road, Tipton, West Midlands, DY4 0LA. We respect your privacy and only collect the information we need to provide our services.

What we collect and why

When you send an enquiry through our website, we collect your name, phone number, email address (if provided) and the details of your enquiry. We use this to reply to you and to arrange your order, on the basis that you've asked us to. Enquiry submissions are processed and stored by Netlify, the company that hosts our website, and a copy is emailed to us. We keep enquiries for up to two years, then delete them.

If you place an order, we keep a record of your order details (such as delivery addresses and card messages) for as long as needed to fulfil the order and meet our legal obligations.

Keeping in touch

We will only contact you with news and offers if you ticked the box on the enquiry form saying you're happy for us to. You can change your mind at any time — just tell us, and we'll stop straight away.

Visitor numbers

We count visits to this website so we know which pages people find useful. We do this ourselves, on our own website — we don't use Google Analytics, Facebook pixels, advertising networks or any other third-party tracking, and nothing about your visit is shared with anyone else.

For each page view we record the page you looked at, roughly how long you spent on it and how far down you scrolled, the address of the website that sent you to us (if any), your browser and device type, your screen width, your language setting, and the approximate area your internet connection appears to be in — the town, county, country and postcode district. By postcode district we mean the first half only, such as “DY4”, which covers several thousand homes; we never record a full postcode or an address. We also record when someone taps the phone number, opens a photo, or sends an enquiry, so we can tell what's working.

We do not store your IP address and we do not set any cookies. So we can tell repeat page views apart from separate visitors, your IP address and browser details are turned into a short scrambled code using a one-way process that cannot be reversed. That code changes every day, so it cannot be used to recognise you tomorrow, and it isn't stored alongside anything that identifies you. Our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used, and because none of it identifies you and no information is stored on your device, it doesn't require your consent.

These figures are kept on our website host's storage and are only ever seen by us.

What we don't do

We don't sell or share your details with anyone else for marketing. We don't use advertising cookies or third-party tracking on this website, and we don't build profiles of individual visitors.

Cookies

This website doesn't set cookies, including for the visitor counting described above. The one thing that could set a cookie is the Google map on our contact page, so it only loads if you press "Show the map" — nothing is sent to Google unless you choose that.

Third-party services

Our home page shows Jeanette's most recent Facebook posts. We fetch these ourselves and store copies of the pictures on our own website, so nothing about your visit is sent to Facebook and no Facebook cookies are set — unless you choose to click through to a post, at which point you are on Facebook's website and their own privacy policy applies.

Our website is hosted by Netlify, which may record standard technical information (such as your IP address) when pages load — see Netlify's privacy policy. The map on our contact page comes from Google Maps and loads only with your say-so — see Google's privacy policy. Our typefaces are stored on our own website, so no font requests go to Google.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just get in touch — details are on our contact page. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
